Medicare / Medicaid Will Pay For My Parents Assisted Living Costs
If we take a look at the basic definition of Medicare/Medicaid, taken from their website, the main coverage they provide is health care. This could include hospital and skilled nursing stays.This is not including Assisted Living or Residential Care Homes.

Majority of Assisted Living and Residential Care Homes are an out of pocket expense, covered via a long term care policy or certain  Veterans Benefits 

California Medi-Cal (California Medicaid) has a program that pays for lower income assisted living via the Assisted Living Waiver (ALW). This waiver is not available statewide. This program has a long waiting list and is limited in the communities and homes it offers.
