Tips For Traveling With The Elderly
Plan Ahead
If you have an elderly family member and want to include them in summer vacations or travels, PLAN AHEAD! With a few days’ notice you can hire a caregiver for the day. They can help you get mom or dad ready and even drive them to a destination. This way ALL spend time together and your loved one is getting the proper attention too.
Pack a Bag
If your loved one has dementia and may get agitated in a group gathering you can pack a bag with familiar items; photos, a favorite snack, and other things that they enjoy. A caregiver can use these to help make sure that they are happy and can enjoy this time with family.
Keep it Simple
Don’t expect them to do more than they can. Just keep their activities simple and everyone will have a great time.
