Look, Don’t Listen!
Can you remember a time you were feeling vulnerable and not able to enjoy or do things you were use to? This could have been because of an injury, a major life change or an emotional experience. Sometimes it can be hard to show others how you are really feeling and ask for advice or help. This happens to all of us no matter what stage of life we are in.
As a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle, its all the same. They want to show that they are strong for you and doing well, they may tell you everything is going great but you can SEE that things are changing and you may not know what to do.
During this holiday season our advice is to LOOK and observe
Observe for the following:
- Is their personal hygiene declining?
- Are they eating properly?
- Are they managing their medications well?
- Are they frail and at risk of falling?
- Is the house a mess, rotten food or dirty clothes around?
If you find one or more of these present, the right thing to do is address this situation head on and try to find out what is really happening and how you can help.
